About Mullingar Childcare

Ursula Keenan is a native of Mullingar and has worked in Childcare for over 18 years.

Having studied at Sion Hill, Blackrock
and received an A.M.I Montessori
Diploma, Ursula opened her own school in 1994. Due to its huge success, Ursula expanded the service to cater for toddlers form 2-3 years old, as well as her very successful A.M.I Montessori.

Childcare to Ursula is more of a devotion than a job, an outlook which comes across in the professional service which Ursula offers and is also reflected in the happy nature of the children and parents who attend Ursula's childcare school.

Ursula is very well known in Mullingar town for her involvement in all areas of childcare and child development. She also Tutors Adult Education classes in Mullingar regarding Montessori and Early Childcare development.

Ursula has been a huge asset to the town in terms of her early intervention to children with special needs and the school employs a special needs assistant to cater for special needs children.

Objectives and Ethos of Mullingar Childcare

Our aim at Mullingar Childcare is to provide the highest quality of childcare available in Mullingar & Ireland. Mullingar Childcare is a unique school providing specialist education for children between the ages of 2 and 5 years.

We at Mullingar Childcare pride ourselves in having created a teaching programme based on the Montessori method, which has been highly successful in the education of children. Our pupils are educated in a structured, relaxed, caring and enjoyable environment and this together with our extensive curriculum and highly qualified teaching staff is the key to Mullingar Childcare success.

Throughout the school the Montessori method of education is used and adapted to help each child reach his/her full potential. The curriculum is broad and varied offering a wide range of both academic and cultural subjects. The schools education programme is directed at the education and growth of the whole person. The children are encouraged to participate in all activities and parents as the primary motivation of their children are asked to lend their support in all areas of their education.

Classes at Mullingar Childcare are organised into groups with children of mixed age and ability. The brighter child and the less able work side by side aiding and learning from each other. It is the hope that each child leaving Mullingar Childcare will be self- motivated and independent, who will have benifited from our wide curriculum and be ready for their next step in the academic world.

Our Staff

When you place your child in our care, you can rest assured that a highly competent and qualified team is caring for your child, including a consultant nurse and a consultant nutritionist.

At Mullingar Childcare, we implement rigorous reference and security checks before employing only those whose vocation is the care of children. We seek to employ carers who are qualified, experienced and who genuinely love minding children.

We use a system of staff-pairing that enables the best techniques to be handed down from the higher qualified supervisory roles to our junior, graduate and experienced back-to-work mums. We provide continuous on-the-job and off-site staff training to maintain the highest of standards.

We send our staff on First Aid training every twelve months to ensure that they are competently able to deal with any first aid incident or medical emergency.

Partnership with our Parents

The atmosphere of Mullingar Childcare is open and friendly with person to person communication. Parents are free to meet with class teachers at any time during the term to discuss their children's progress or any problems that may arise.
